Abstract

The Biji Yokot'an Gastronomic Corridor, located in the municipality of Nacajuca, Tabasco, is emerging as a significant tourism project in the region, representing a key initiative for promoting cultural wealth and local economic dynamism. The corridor's main objective is to revitalize culinary practices while also seeking to strengthen the economy of traditional cooks and small producers, fundamental pillars of this gastronomic identity. However, the Biji Yokot'an Corridor's history has not been without its obstacles. In recent years, several factors have tested its sustainability and long-term projection, such as limited investment in infrastructure, a significant decline in visitors as a result of recent health contingencies, and the absence of robust and effective promotional strategies. Adding to these challenges are the social and environmental complexities inherent to the region, which require comprehensive management and close collaboration between local authorities, cultural promoters, and the gastronomic stakeholders who bring the corridor to life. The objective of this research is to analyze the current situation of the Biji Yokot'an Gastronomic Corridor, exploring the factors that influence its development and the economic impact it generates on the community. It will also reflect on possible avenues for improvement and the public policies that might be necessary to consolidate the corridor as a benchmark for rural tourism, ensuring its long-term sustainability and maximizing its economic impact in the municipality of Nacajuca, Tabasco.
